Is manipulating people bad?

The best marketers are the most manipulative, but is that a bad thing? Is it bad to be manipulative? I think it’s an “the ends justify the means” situation. (In marketing at least…)

If you’re manipulating people in to do things that hurt them then in your case manipulation is bad, but if you’re manipulating people in to doing things that are neutral or good for them then manipulating people is good or neutral.

No matter what you’re selling, you have to accept that your primary goal is to manipulate people. Your primary goal is to manipulate them in to buying something that they wouldn’t otherwise buy, that’s how and why you get paid.

Dan Kennedy has talked about this a few times. He said that some people aren’t cut out for marketing because they are to squeamish.

Dan Kennedy is comfortable with manipulation, are you?
Dan Kennedy is comfortable with manipulation, are you?

The truth is, if you want to make money selling sausage, you have to learn how the sausage is made. If you want to make money marketing you have to learn how to manipulate people. Maybe that’s not a very good metaphor, but the point is that if you want to be truly great at marketing you will have to learn to manipulate people.

How To Avoid Getting Scammed

I’m embarrassed to admit it, but I was recently scammed. The sad part is that I’ve known of this guy for a while and he really seemed like a stand up dude. I’m really disappointed about how he’s treated me.

Anyways, I paid him for his mentorship and access to a course he created. The course was crap and I’ve yet to get anything but excuses out of him. Much less any useful mentorship…

Before I paid him he gave me every assurance that he would happily refund my money if I wasn’t satisfied and after several very direct refund requests he has stopped responding to me completely.

In the grand scheme of thing’s it’s not that big of a deal but honestly it really pisses me off. I don’t like it when I’m lied to. And I really don’t like looking like a fool.

If I lived within driving distance I would probably go there and smash on him with a baseball bat or stick a gun in his mouth.

Well… probably not… it’s not worth going to jail, but that’s how pissed off I really am.

To be clear, the above statements don’t constitute a threat of any kind. I’ll be handling this matter through the courts, not by force.

Ok, now that I’ve got that off of my chest, here’s how to avoid being scammed:

1. Never pay someone in a way that you can’t force a refund through a third party. Paypal is great because they have a pretty hassle free refund process no matter who you paid or what you paid them for. But if you paid through some other payment processor you can still file a chargeback through your credit card company.

If someone asks you to send a check, money order, cashiers check, western union etc… that’s a huge red flag that they might be setting you up. They know their product/service is shit and they’re trying to make sure you can’t get your money back.

Even if you sue them there’s pretty close to no chance that you’ll ever get your money back. If you win a law suit you still have to figure out how to collect. You can garnish their wages, put a levy against a piece of property, etc… it’s not like you win and they sign you a check on the spot.

2. If it seems to good to be true then it probably is. 95% of everything you need to know about making money on the internet can be found for free online, and the other 5% won’t matter until you’re big enough to make friends with people who will teach you for free like affiliate managers, vendors, and maybe even other affiliates.

3. Stop looking for a magic bullet. Never get desperate. This is why I failed. I violated rule #1 because I was desperate for a solution. I eventually figured it out on my own anyways. Whenever you notice yourself getting desperate or emotional in general about spending money it’s probably time to take a step back and sleep on it for a few days or even talk to someone about it before pulling the trigger.

I sincerely hope you never have to go through something like this. It really sucks. No matter what, never give up, never stop fighting for your personal freedom.

3 Steps To Becoming Wealthy

What follows is my best advice for becoming wealthy.

1. Make a lot of money

You’re going to have a hard time becoming wealthy making less than $200k per year. It just isn’t possible to become wealthy making less money that that.

If you don’t make very much money at your job, that’s ok, just start a business of some sort and work on it when you’re not at work. I know that’s easier said than done, but it is what it is.

Obviously I think affiliate marketing is a good place to start, but instead of being a lazy marketer relying on traffic arbitrage I recommend building out a website with good content that promotes more than one related offer.

Creating compelling content is a valuable skill now you’re becoming wealthy.

Review sites and ‘how to’ sites work really well. Sign up with an affiliate network and look through their most popular offers asking yourself this question: “How are people using this product/service? What problem does it solve for them?” is a great example of this strategy. They’re one of the biggest Venus Factor affiliates.

You’re goal is to find something that you can become a salesman for by showing people how to use it. Something you can create content for and also buy traffic for.

After you find something like that just create the content and buy the traffic.

The model I follow is this: Create a front end offer that can be profitably advertised. For example, create a how to video or article that solves a problem but requires the visitor to buy an affiliate product as part of solving the problem.

Then, find other related affiliate product, preferably at least one subscription that pays residuals, to promote in a similar way. Ideally, it should be a natural extension from the first offer.

Ie.: Step 1: buy a widget and do whatever with it, step 2: buy a thingamajiggy and do whatever else with it.

2. Save most of it

Becoming wealthy is impossible if you spend every dollar you make. No matter how much money you’re making.

Making money seems hard until you finally figure it out. Once you’ve got a functional scalable business started and growing you’ll find out that it’s much harder to save money than it is to make money.

Your goal should be to live an abundant lifestyle, but don’t be a complete asshole. One sportscar is plenty. You don’t need 3 or 4 of them. If you have a spouse and 2 kids you only need 4 bedrooms in your home. Maybe 5. But definitely not 10.

Even though you’re making a lot of money, you don’t need to eat at a 5 star restaurant every might. Once or twice a week is plenty.

I’m not saying that you should live like a poor person, but don’t be like Vanilla Ice or like most of the people who win the lottery.

Live a good life, but don’t go overboard with it. Make sure you’re saving significant amounts of money, or at least reinvesting it to grow your business, like over half of it.

You can live like that eventually, but not until while you’re becoming wealthy, not until you’re already wealthy.

3. Invest your money intelligently

The number one rule of investing is to never lose money. The second rule is to never forget rule number one.

The best place you can invest your money is in something you control, like your business. Or even in starting a new but similar business.

If you made millions of dollars selling affiliate products with paid traffic then focus on doing more of that.

If you made millions of dollars generating leads for limo companies but you’ve tapped that market out then maybe start a site generating leads for attorneys.

Or create some kind of info product for limo drivers. Whatever you do, stay in a world that you understand.

Don’t invest in things you don’t understand. Don’t invest in real estate unless you understand real estate. Don’t speculate on stock picking or day trading unless you are an expert on the subject.

If for some reason you have to get in to something you don’t understand then at least put some serious energy in to learning about it. Get a job in that industry. Make friends with people who already own businesses in that industry.

I’m sorry…

I’m sure you read this article in hopes of finding something more specific about becoming wealthy than what I’ve written, but the truth is, anybody being much more specific than that is probably trying to sell you something.

It’s probably how they’re becoming wealthy. By selling stuff about becoming wealthy.

I’m just here to help. I have nothing to sell you, Except maybe some marketing tools that you’ll need to buy anyways. At least you’ll need to buy them if you want to run a successful affiliate marketing business.

Here’s one foolproof strategy for making a lot of money as an affiliate marketer: find something that people are already buying and find a way to be the one they buy it from.

As described above, I do this by creating a site full of ‘how to’ articles and videos showing people how to use an affiliate product to solve a problem that seems to have lots of search traffic.

Search terms like ‘how can I lose weight, how to lose weight. weight loss diet, best diet for weight loss, lose weight fast’ etc…

Another piece of advice, look for something that businesses buy, businesses have money, easier to make sales. If you can show them that it’s worth more than it costs then they’ll buy it every time.

Anyways, I hope that helped you. Now go do some work!

Don’t Be A Pussy. It’s Bad For You.

I just read an article that really pissed me off. It was about how heavy a particular olympic athlete is, and the article was pointing out that women who weigh that much shouldn’t feel bad.

The athlete who was described in the article was almost 6 feet tall and weighed a little over 200 pounds. She looked pretty dam good at over 200 pounds. She was obviously very strong, very muscular.

The problem is, there are very few women who look good at over 200 Pounds. Much less trying to stay healthy at over 200 pounds.

Hell most men can’t pull off being over 200 pounds.

The article pissed me off because it was written in an attempt at pandering to fat girls.

It was an attempt at allowing them to continue to delude themselves. The let them continue to believe that people who called them fat were just being mean and the guys who wouldn’t fuck them were just pigs.

Or whatever conclusions they came to that allowed them to feel good about being fat.

My overall point is this: don’t delude yourself, don’t be a pussy. Face the facts. In all areas of your life, look for the most useful information available as a means of evaluating your performance.

Not just the most convenient information.

Obviously, it’s not healthy or attractive to carry around 40% of your body weight as fat, no matter what your height and weight are, no matter how that compares to the height and weight of a particular Olympic athlete.

If you’re serious about looking good naked, you should focus on reducing your body fat by reducing your calorie intake and increasing your calorie expenditures (AKA exercise).

That’s really all there is to it.

I’m not a doctor or the judge of fitness competitions so I won’t try to quote a particular body fat percentage number but a simple google search should clear that up for you.

CPA Marketing Tips From An Amateur

I’ll be honest with you, CPA marketing is fucking hard, there are definitely easier ways to make money online, and I’m definitely not making a bazillion dollars as a CPA marketer yet so I’m probably not the best person to be giving you any CPA Marketing Tips but a bunch of the people on my VIP Subscribers List have been asking about my progress so here are my best CPA Marketing Tips:

CPA Marketing Tips to help you live the laptop lifestyle.
CPA Marketing Tips to help you live the laptop lifestyle.

My Best CPA Marketing Tips:

1. Don’t try to direct link the offers. Unless you’re in a small market without much competition it’s nearly impossible to profitably direct link anything. If was that

2. Spy on the other people who are promoting the offer. Use to see where the most traffic is coming in from, you’ll probably find that there’s an advertorial sending the most traffic. Advertorials make the most sales, which allows the advertiser to pay the most for the traffic, so they tend to buy most or all of it.

3. Learn to create advertorials. They work. The goal is to convince people that they’re reading an article or editorial. If misleading people to make more money is uncomfortable to you then get out of marketing now.  You’re just not cut out for it.

4. Don’t be afraid to spend money. You’ve got to buy some data. You’re never going to be profitable right away. When you start a campaign your goal is to identify profitable advertising targets.

5. Hire a coach if you can afford one. Seriously. Figuring it out on your own is way to hard.

So far that’s all I’ve come up with. Those are my best CPA marketing tips, I’ll continue to put out more content on the subject as my skills improve so keep checking back for more if it’s something you’re interested in.It’s all about testing and tracking.

Being a great salesman helps, being able to write copy helps, being able to design websites helps a lot. Any skill that’ll allow you to create and test landers quickly (don’t forget to focus on advertorials, farticles, flogs etc… think misdirection)

Nothing more annoying than having to wait a week to get your ads back from the programmer while your competitors are building their own in just a couple hours.

Are you the customer or the business owner?

In the video above this text I ask a simple question: Are you the customer or the business owner? Most people in the opportunity market are the customer, despite thinking and being constantly told they’re the business owner.

If you’re not sure which category you’re in here’s a great test: Are you making money or spending money? If you’re spending money then you’re the consumer. That covers well over 90% of all the so called ‘business owners’ in the opportunity market.

If you’re excuse is that you just started then consider this: It’s entirely possible to make $10k in your first month and more than that every month afterwards if you’re using the correct strategies.

Most people go on for years and years without making any money at all. It’s pretty sad really. Many of them are slackers who will never achieve any success with anything, but probably just as many of them could succeed and would succeed if they were using the correct strategies.

Do you think you could make a bunch of money in your business if every week you had as many prescheduled sales calls as you wanted? What if the calls were with people who had applied to join your team and you didn’t have to try to convince them and twist their arm,  just answer them questions and tell them to sign up?

It’s entirely possible and when you join my team I’ll teach you how to do it.

Passive Residual Income Is A Fantasy!

In most businesses, Passive Residual Income is a fantasy. Especially most home based businesses and network marketing companies. Even property and casualty insurance agents are struggling to build passive residual income these days. The real truth about passive residual income is that there are very few businesses that allow you to build it anymore.

“As far as normal day to day purchases go, consumers are more price loyal than ever before because they have to be.”

As far as normal day to day purchases go, consumers are more price loyal than ever before because they have to be. Prices for everything continue to go up (thanks to our asshole politicians for printing so much funny money) and average household incomes are not keeping pace. This means people have to settle for less stuff or they have to buy stuff that costs less money. They can either go without or abandon their favorite brand in favor of a lower priced competitor.

There’s not much a business can do about that, except maybe lower the quality of their product, which most of them have done. The problem with lowering quality is that it erodes customer loyalty even further…

“…the overwhelming majority of their income is from new people joining the business, not from ongoing product sales.”

Anyways, in the home based business, direct sales, network marketing or multi level marketing world there never really was such a thing as residual income. Most of the big money earners in the MLM world have admitted that the overwhelming majority of their income is from new people joining the business, not from ongoing product sales.

That means there’s not really any residual income. As soon as those people stop producing their income starts to collapse. Hell, even Dave Wood is pounding the phones to get his own company back to it’s former glory!

We all know why that is though, don’t we? How many times have you bought a product from an MLM company because it was worth it’s price? Probably never. How many products are you currently buying from an MLM company that you are not a distributor for? Probably none.

“Nobody buys the product because they really want it… only so they can get rich.”

Nobody buys the product because they really want it, only because they have to buy it so their downline will buy it, only so they can get rich. Which really doesn’t matter as their downline will quit in a month or 3 anyways… but I digress.

My point is, there are no real customers in network marketing, much less life long customers. If you want to create residual income you have to create lifelong customers and you can’t do that in network marketing. The products are expensive, which is the last thing consumers want right now.

“There is however, one company selling something that appeals to consumers given todays economic circumstances: Dubli gives people cash back for shopping online.”

There is however, one company selling something that appeals to consumers given todays economic circumstances: Dubli gives people cash back for shopping online. Ask yourself this question, if a company is giving someone money, is that person likely to quit using that company’s service? I don’t think so either.

That’s why I and will continue to be focused on building a team AND a massive customer base with Dubli. If you want to find out how you can do the same for yourself just go to this page and opt in to my list for access to a video summary of how the company works and free beta access to a course I created teaching people how to make money through the internet. A secret to success: Do what you can do now, do it as well as you can.

In this post I want to share something with you that has helped me have success in all areas of my life. Do what you can do now, do it as well as you can.

I’ll start with an example from my life: I spent 6 months learning how to build a Jeff Walker style launch funnel despite having access to one of the few team funnels that actually works really well. In case you don’t know, my main business is Dubli and Dubli Network, I’m on the Wukar and Awol teams. Awol has a great funnel that makes sales AND generated highly responsive phone leads.

Rather than sending traffic to their funnel and working the leads that come out the other end I spent 6 months screwing around with building and optimizing my own funnel. Had I been using theirs while optimizing mine I would probably be making twice as much money by now.

Here’s another example: I was pretty fat for a while, like 250#s. I’m 5’7”. When I was working in the North Dakota Oilfields I had a hard time getting to the gym so instead of getting in to the gym once or twice a week and maybe exercising a little in the shack (the trailer I stayed in while I was working) I just didn’t do anything at all.

I kept waiting until I would be put on to a rig that was closer to town so I could get to the gym 3x a week every week like I wanted to. Had I just done some jogging and body weight exercises I would have lost the weight in 3 months instead of a year.

The president of a very high level digital marketing agency recently told me that if in 6 months I didn’t look back at my first funnel and think: “dam, that’s ugly!” then I spent way to much time on it.

The point is, even if you’re not an expert, just start doing something, anything at all! Just get in to motion!

If you are a marketer of some sort, MLM, Affiliate marketer or whatever and you don’t know what to do right now to start getting paid I want to make suggestion to you:

1. Generate leads – set up a landing page advertising a lead magnet

2. Warm them up – send them a few pieces of content that will make them think you’re cool so they’ll want to buy your stuff

3. Sell them something – if you’ve done 1 and 2 correctly, selling is the easy part. Really you should have positioned yourself as an expert who is allowing them to buy rather than some salesman who is begging for a sale.

If none of that makes any sense to you, click here to get Free Beta Access to a course I created called “My #1 Most Profitable Secret For Making Money Online AND Exactly How To Use It For Yourself!”

It should take you less than a week to get through the course and at the end you should be able to start making money online, weather it’s an MLM, affiliate program, CPA offer or whatever…

...Click Here to Get Free Beta Access

What’s Free Beta Access mean?

I’ll eventually turn the course in to an affiliate product and charge a few thousand dollars for it, but first I need some feedback and lots of testimonials, which is where the beta group comes in.

I’m giving you Free Beta Access to the course but I expect your feedback and a testimonial after you’ve started using it. Obviously I have no way of enforcing this, but I think most people are generally honest so I’m not worried about it.
